Susan Carroll – Adventures in Energy…
I look back over the past several years of my life with much gratitude, and a bit of wonder as well. Not all that long ago my idea of “energy” was the boost you got after eating a candy bar.
I grew up in northern New Jersey, right outside New York City. After attending college as an English major I had a succession of jobs ranging from waitressing to office work.
In the 1980’s I got a job working on Wall Street. A mutual interest in pet birds brought me together with my future husband. In 1990 we walked away from Wall Street, got married, moved to Florida and embarked on our dream of establishing an exotic bird breeding business, which he still operates.
We divorced after 15 years but we’ve stayed friends. To help take my mind off my troubles in the difficult days toward the end of my marriage, I got into the habit of going to the library and taking out books on tape to listen to as I did my chores around the bird farm.
At first I listened to historical novels and mysteries, then one day I decided to branch out. Instead of escaping into fiction I began to explore tapes by people like Deepak Chopra and Wayne Dyer.
For several years already I had been reading about feng shui, and the more I learned the more fascinated I became. It seemed like the coolest thing in the world to me, that by mindfully, intentionally arranging your environment you could improve just about any area of your life you wanted to.
About this time I became acquainted with A Course in Miracles and began attending weekly meetings. The concept that we really do create our own reality by virtue of the thoughts we allow into our minds, that we can alter our circumstances by “choosing to feel another way” was a real epiphany for me.
I began enthusiastically learning about various types of energy work. One of these was Emotional Freedom Techniques. EFT astounded me, that something so simple could have such a profound effect.
Then things really began to come together in my life. I heard about something called the SCIO machine, an incredible device that interfaces with a person’s subconscious and facilitate healing on all levels: physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. I purchased a SCIO, completed my training and achieved my certification as a Quantum Biofeedback Specialist in 2007.
In 2011, after almost two decades of studying feng shui on my own I decided to become certified under Karen Rauch Carter. Of all the feng shui books I had consumed over the years, hers resonated with me the most. So many of the other books made feng shui intimidating. “Move Your Stuff, Change Your Life” made feng shui fun and accessible. I completed the course of study and graduated from the Academy of Exquisite Living.
I am so happy and grateful to be on this path in life, and I hold intentions of being of service to my clients and helping everybody achieve their Highest and Best.
